Sources and citations

Where the evidence behind an article comes from, how claims are resolved, and how a citation is placed.

An article that states something specific should be able to say where it came from. Sources are how Blogged does that.

Where sources come from#

• Your Knowledge Engine, which holds facts tied to the page they were read from.
• Research performed during a drafting run.
• References you add yourself in the editor.

Resolving a claim#

The editor lists the article's claims alongside the references that support them. A claim with no supporting reference is visible as exactly that, which is the point: an unsupported specific is the sentence most worth rewriting.

Placing a citation#

Citations are inserted in context, next to the sentence they support, rather than collected as a bibliography nobody reads. What appears publicly depends on the article and on your settings.

Removing a source#

Removing a reference from a post removes its citations with it. The reference stays in your knowledge, because other posts may depend on it.
