Indexing and coverage
Whether your posts are in the index, the four indexing states, and what to do about each one.

Publishing is not being indexed. Coverage is how you tell the difference.
The four states

not_submitted | The URL has not been submitted for indexing |
submitted | Submitted, no verdict yet |
indexed | In the index and eligible to appear |
not_indexed | Seen and not indexed |
Each post carries its state in the editor and in the Content workspace.
What to do
- not_submitted
Check that Search Console is connected and your sitemap has been submitted. This is usually the whole problem for a new blog.
- submitted
Wait. Days is normal, particularly for a new domain.
- not_indexed
Google saw it and declined. Usually thin content, near duplication of something else, or a page with nothing that a searcher wanted. The editor's content score and GEO checklist are where to start.
A new blog takes time
A brand new domain publishing its first posts is not slow because something is broken. Indexing accelerates as a site accumulates crawled, linked, updated pages, which is one of the arguments for a cadence rather than a launch burst.
