Competitors give the Knowledge Engine something to compare against, and they
feed Competitor Blog Watch later if you turn it on.

## What happens on this step

Blogged suggests competitors from your evidence and from a search of the market.
You approve the ones that are right, remove the ones that are not, and add any
it missed by pasting a domain.

Approved competitors become entities in the Knowledge Engine, so facts about
them are held with the same source discipline as facts about your own product.
See [competitor facts](/knowledge/competitors).

## What completes the step

Either answer completes it:

- at least one approved competitor, or
- an explicit confirmation that you have none to track.

The second option exists because "no competitors" is a real answer for a
genuinely new category, and a step that only accepted the first would force
people to invent one.

## How many

Each plan allows a number of tracked competitors, and a Free Project may track 7.
The limit applies to the Project, and you can change the set later from Project
settings.

## Next

[Plan](/onboarding/plan), where you choose how this Project is paid for. On a
first Project that is a real choice rather than a formality, and it is the first
step in setup that asks for one.
